Swapping & handovers

How does Sally's clothing swap work?

List clothes you no longer wear. When someone nearby picks them up, you earn a Swap Credit. Use that credit whenever you want, for whichever piece you like — no direct exchange, no haggling, no shipping.

Do I need to ship my clothes?

No. Sally is a hyperlocal app — you see items from people nearby first. Handover happens in person. No shipping, no packaging, no shipping emissions.

What makes Sally different from Vinted or Depop?

On Vinted or Depop you sell — you photograph, negotiate, pack and ship. On Sally you swap: one credit per item, local handover, no money exchanged, no shipping. Sally is not a marketplace. It's a shared wardrobe for your community.

Do I need a matching partner for every swap?

No. The pool belongs to everyone. You don't need to find someone who wants exactly your item — you give something and, independently, take out something else.

How does the handover work?

You set when you're free and where you'd like to meet — at home, at the office, or somewhere public. When the giver's and taker's times line up, Sally confirms the handover and sends you the details. You never message each other directly — Sally handles everything, including last-minute changes.

Where do I meet the other person?

Somewhere the giver chooses: at home, at the office, or a public meeting point nearby. You'll see the exact spot once the handover is confirmed.

What clothes can I list?

Anything wearable and washed. Minor signs of wear are fine, as long as they don't affect wearability — just describe them clearly and show them in a photo so the next person knows exactly what they're getting.

What happens to items nobody takes?

If nobody picks up your item, you don't earn a Credit. So that nothing goes to waste, we're building a way to route those pieces onward — through donation or recycling. (Coming soon.)

Credits & membership

Is Sally free to use?

Your first month is free — including 2 Swap Credits to get started. After that, the Shared Closet membership costs €29.90 per year, less than €2.50 per month.

When exactly do I get my Credit?

As soon as your item is picked up. Listing alone doesn't count yet. A Credit is only spent for good once both sides have confirmed the handover.

Do my Credits expire?

Never. You just need an active membership to use them. If you pause your membership, your Credits wait for your return.

What happens after the free month?

You don't need any payment details for the first month — nothing is charged automatically. After that, your access to the Shared Closet ends unless you actively choose a membership.

Can I buy Credits?

Yes. If you'd like to take more than you give, you can buy extra Credits in bundles of 5 or 10.

Do I need a membership to list?

Yes. You need the Shared Closet membership both to list and to pick up items.

Trust & quality

Where is Sally already available?

Sally is live in Cologne now. Download the app and get started right away.

When will Sally launch in my neighborhood?

Sally is already available across all of Cologne — no matter which neighborhood you're in. How many items you'll find right nearby depends on how many people there are already using it. The more neighbors join, the bigger the pool gets on your street.

What will Sally do in the future?

Today Sally starts with swapping. Selling, repairing, donating and upcycling will follow step by step — all in one place.

What if the AI description is wrong?

Sally only pre-fills the description to make listing quicker. Every field stays editable — give it a quick check and fix anything that's off. By listing an item, you confirm the details in its description.

What if someone doesn't show up for the handover?

Everyone on Sally has a rating profile. If someone doesn't show, you can leave a poor rating. Repeated negative ratings catch up with you in the community. And your Credit only counts as spent once both sides confirm the handover — so you don't lose it if the other person doesn't turn up.
